December 2019 Meeting

It’s time for our last meeting of the year. This meeting is open to the public and will include a meal and presentation. There is no fee, but donations are strongly encouraged.

When: December 9th at 6:00 pm
Where: Lenexa City Hall – 17101 W 87th St Pkwy, Lenexa, KS 66219

We’ll start with a pancake dinner by the wonder and entertaining Chris Cakes at 6pm, then move into the auditorium for a talk about LHS by president Bruce Daniel. Bruce will talk about all the changes you’ve likely noticed with LHS this past year, and our goals for 2020. To finish up the meeting, we will have a presentation by Bill Nicks as Thomas J. Pendergast.
Please note that we’ve asked attendees to RSVP on our Facebook page, but no one will be turned away if they do not. We simply want to get an idea of how many people plan to attend.

A tidbit on Pendergast from Bill Nicks:

Pendergast was the corrupt political BOSS of Kansas City in the 1920’s and 30’s. Come hear all about that era from the big man himself. Learn about Pendergast’s corrupt democratic political machine, his rise to power, his fall, his Jefferson Hotel and Redi-Mix Concrete Co., the crime, the drugs, the gambling, the voter intimidation, and even his association with Harry Truman.

The LHS board and staff members are very proud of the improvements and changes that have been made this year, even though many are not seen by the public. We anticipate a lot of great changes in 2020 and we hope that you will come along for the ride, become a member, or even volunteer some of your time and skills by volunteering at the LHS Complex or become a part of committees that we hope to create. More info will be presented at the meeting and online at a later date.

Share this post with your friends! We’d like to see a lot people at the meeting – the more the merrier!
